So there was this post a couple of days ago in the sleepy hollow tag and nobody responded because it was just too dumb to even lift a finger but it got to me because my experience was just so different. I came here as an escapist venture, in search for an illusionary space that removed me from reality for a while and that was not what the sleepy hollow tag was at all and it turned out to be glorious.
I guess every fandom has (smaller or larger) spaces in which critical discussions about how intrically TV is linked to other discourses in society reigns supreme, but here it was front and center. And I guess this has everything to do with its diverse cast and the fandom resulting from that fact. Maybe I’m wrong and maybe I just followed the right people but the enraging, stupid voices seemed to be rightfully marginalized ones.
And this is what FOX should use as one of the cute little blurbs in their promotion materials. Honestly, they should.
TwoP: holy shit!/OMG!/you got me show! | Abbie made a hero’s decision to stay in purgatory outweighing WTF, did she just sacrifice herself for Ichabod’s love life? 8:1 | side-eying Ichabod for redrawing the map
The AV Club: John Fucking Noble | John Fucking Noble! | Fringe! | John Cho! | delightful Ichabod slapstick reiterated
io9: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is crap compared to SH and nobody saw it coming.(*)
I’m so glad I came here to the lands of jaded-ness.
[Practically nobody’s happy with Katrina though (if she comes up). Faith in world partially restored.]
(*) did nobody look at the terrible promotion pictures of the most bland-pretty looking cast ever (except for Ming-Na Wen & Clark Gregg)? Everybody should have seen that coming. Whedon or not.
“stupid fucking tv show” we all say as we continue to dedicate a whole blog to it

So I know Ichabod’s the one with the photographic memory, but can we just take a moment to appreciate how Abbie apparently remembers every fact she’s ever heard in a class? Bits of Revelations from Sunday School, Roman generals from high school Latin, Washington’s death date from a school history book, and 17th century invisible ink methods from college forensics. In like the past two episodes. Lady knows her stuff.
And Ichabod appreciates as well:
I loved this. Because they had her confused by Ichabod uttering ‘admonition’ at the end of 1x06 for comedic purposes which was stupid and not in character at all. English is not my first language and even I knew the damned word.
